Microsoft just lured Tyler “Ninja” Blevins to its Mixer live-streaming platform, with a deal locking down exclusivity with one of gaming’s most eminent personalities. With growth parallel to the rise of hit battle royale Fortnite, Ninja has drawn almost half a billion to his live Twitch broadcasts, garnering 14.7 million dedicated followers since his 2018 rise. And now under Microsoft exclusivity, the move further bolsters its streaming portfolio.

Ninja’s Mixer debut has already meant an influx of new Mixer viewers, fast accumulating 250,000 subscribers as of publication. The has also brought the Mixer mobile app into new hands worldwide, already topping top free charts via Apple’s iOS App Store. Although we have no hard figures, the app has already surpassed YouTube and Gmail in many regions. Mixer’s top spot is yet to be mirrored on Android’s Google Play marketplace.
