iTunes for Windows will remain as is for better or worse

The changes are only on the Mac right now, iTunes for Windows will live on.

What you need to know

  • Apple announced major changes to iTunes at WWDC 2019.
  • The app as we know it is going away on Mac.
  • The Windows version will live on as is.

Not everyone who uses an iPad, iPhone or iPod is also a Mac owner, and that in itself is part of the reason iTunes for Windows ever needed to be a thing. Lets face it, Windows users are still in the majority.

At WWDC, Apple announced some major changes to how iTunes content will be delivered going forward, that essentially kills off the current application. If you were concerned about what it meant for Windows, it seems it’s all business as usual. Billboard’s Micah Singleton has the story:

Apple tells me iTunes will continue to exist in its current state on Windows, and the iTunes Music Store will be available in the sidebar in Finder on MacOS Catalina

Of course, while the syncing aspect of using iTunes on Windows might be in the minority these days, the app is currently the only way to get Apple Music delivered on a Windows PC. And it will continue to be for the future, for better or for worse.
